First Lady Sue Johnson

District Missionary, First Lady F. Sue Johnson was born in Halifax, Va. to the late Letcher and Sally Guthrie. After the death of her mother, at the age of eight, her aunt and uncle relocated to Albany New York and raised her and her siblings until she became a young adult.  In 1957 she accepted Christ as her Lord and master and married her childhood sweetheart, Supt. McKinley Johnson.  

Lady Sue and Pastor McKinley have been married for 55 years.  All of their children are saved and filled with the Holy Ghost and are working in ministry. She has been a faithful member of St. John’s for over 55 years.

Lady Johnson is a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College with an Associate’s degree in early childhood education. She also attended SUNY at Albany majoring in Communication, Rhetoric and African American Studies.
Lady Johnson is a graduate of New York Western First Jurisdiction Institute of Christian Education with a degree in Women’s Studies.

Over the years, Lady Johnson has come up through the ranks teaching Sunday School, Youth Ministry and working in various auxiliaries of ministry.  She is the past president of the Christian Women’s Council, the District Sunday School Field Representative and District Missionary for District #11, for over 15 years.  Presently, she serves as the President of the New York Western First Jurisdiction of the Churches of God in Christ State Women’s Examining Board.  She is the Coordinator of the Women’s Department for the Tech Valley District under the supervision of Supt. McKinley Johnson. Lady Johnson has worked in almost every auxiliary of the Church of God in Christ. Presently, she serves under the auspices of the Bishop James R. Wright, Prelate of NY Western First Jurisdiction of the Churches of God in Christ.

For Years, Lady Johnson and her husband, Supt. McKinley Johnson has conducted Marriage Enhancements Seminars across America, bringing inspiration and insight to numerous couples and singles. Each year in the Youth Explosion, she has taught the “From This Day Forward” seminar, and has counseled hundreds of women and young adults in the “art” of Marriage.  She tells everyone “That She is Supt. Johnson’s Wife for Life”.

Lady Johnson is retired from the New York State Assembly after 23 years of employment, and is on another mission, “To Win Souls to Jesus Christ”.  To God be the glory for the things He has done.
